The progress of the nation depends on the values it cherishes. The erosion of the value system is the sign of the downfall of any society. Many civilizations of the world have disappeared because of the lack of values promoting welfare and growth of all. The nation will prosper if it has a value-based society.

Nation refers to infrastructure, administration, and legal frameworks, whereas society refers to the value system. Robust administration and legal frameworks will fail if the society has poor social values.

Ancient India had a rich spiritual, cultural, and social heritage. It was a conscious society, sensitive to social, spiritual, cultural, environmental, and ecological needs for sustainable human existence on Earth. Most importantly, it was an economically, spiritually, and socially rich nation. This has been appreciated by Western historians, scientists, philosophers, and reformers.

The invasion of Arabs, Mughal rule, British colonization, and Western influence led to materialistic attitude and erosion of values in the society. The restoration of value system in society is the need of the hour. Otherwise, our actions alone will be the cause of our destruction.
